The local production of "S/HE", a play about a man's journey in a women's body that compels us to reconsider our answers to some of life's most basic questions. Performed at The Wine Cellar restaurant in honor of National Transgender Remembrance Day.

Wilton Manors City Commissioners Ted Galatis, Scott Newton and Julie Carson are sworn into their seats on the Commission. While Galatis and Newton were returned to office, Carson became the open lesbian woman elected to the Commission. Included was the swearing in of returning Mayor Gary Resnick.

Ribbon Cutting for the New MLounge

The MProject holds a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new MLounge. The new lounge is double the size of the previous headquarters. MProject is a men's youth group providing camaraderie and activities for its membership and promotes safer-sex education.

A documentary production crew stopped at Java Boys in Wilton Manors to shoot an episode of "One Square Mile". "One Square Mile" is a documentary series, that won a 2010 Emmy Award for Documentary, that examines a unique lifestyle within one square mile of a major metropolitan community.

"Broward Bares It"

8/13/10-"Broward Bares It" was a new burlesque-style show fundraiser for Broward House. Shot at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

Poverello Center Open House

The Poverello Center holds an open house for the community. The Poverello Center is a food bank helping to feed people with HIV/AIDS. Poverello is partially funded by its huge thrift store and hopes to be moving into its new, larger facilities by the end of 2010.

A television was filming the pilot for an upcoming television situation comedy, "Bummed Out" at Java Boys in Wilton Manors. The show will be about two former corporate executives who lost their jobs and realized they could make more money being bums than being on unemployment. The show will take place in the Fort Lauderdale area.

7/18/10-The monthly Market Bazaar in the Shoppes of Wilton Manors has become a huge neighborhood party visited by thousands each month.

Candlelight Vigil for Courtney Bright

Almost 100 people showed up for a candlelight vigil held in honor of Courtney Bright, a 24 year old Polk County, Florida lesbian who was allegedly murdered by the father of her girlfriend. The vigil was organized by the Gay American Heroes Foundation.

Leather Masked Ball Volunteer Appreciation Party and Check Presentation

The Leather Masked Ball held by the Lambda Men's Brotherhood is an annual charity benefit. This year checks were presented to the Leather Museum and Archives and Equality Florida while thanking their volunteers for making The Ball possible. Held in the Manchester Room at Georgie's Alibi.
